A history that makes a difference
Bona’s heritage has shaped who we are today. What started over a hundred years ago as a small family-owned grocery store in Malmö, Sweden –– that also made a protective polishing agent for wood floors called, “BONVAX” –– has grown into a multinational company with a presence in over 90 countries.
In 1919 ...
Our story began over 100 years ago with Bona's founder, Wilhelm Edner. At the time, his first love was selling coffee at his small grocery store in Malmö, Sweden. Little did he know that BONVAX would become his best-selling product.
In 1953 …
Bona released a breakthrough product on the European market: D-503 Floor Sealer!
In 1974 …
Bona expanded into the world of adhesive production, opening a plant in Limburg, Germany
In 1979 …
Bona became a pioneering force in the wood flooring industry by creating the first waterborne finish, removing toxic and hazardous chemicals from the product, and proving itself as a viable alternative to competitor products.
In 1984 …
Bona launched its first UV-finish, making its debut in the pre-finished market arena.
In 1995 …
Bona begins development of its own dispersions and introduces Bona Mega as a durable wood floor finish.
In 2002 …
Bona creates cleaning and care solutions for homeowners by introducing the Bona Wood Floor Care kit.
THE CLEANER DIFFERENCE
Bona floors pass the bare feet test – every time
Designed for professionals by professionals, Bona spray mops, floor cleaners and microfibre cleaning pads deliver a complete solution for a beautiful clean and natural shine, with no residue left behind. Experience the difference in truly clean floors that feel lovely beneath your bare feet.
Bona Cleaners are BEST IN TEST
Our wood floor cleaning system outperformed 11 European competitors in a 2015 third-party institute testing. The test also showed that Bona’s cleaning solution breaks up household dirt better than leading European competitors, while also demonstrating superior dirt removal. Tests show that the combination of the Bona Microfiber Cleaning Pad and Bona Wood Floor Cleaner is a winning combination!

Drop the bucket and pick up the Bona Spray Mop
Why lug around a heavy bucket of murky water and a dingy, old string mop, when you can enjoy the light and easy, carefree option – the Bona Premium Spray Mop? Say farewell to outdated methods of mopping, and say hello to the mop that makes sense!
Bona Spray Mops make the process easier
The Bona Premium Spray mop is the new, modern way to clean your floors. Simply spray with a pull of the trigger for the perfect amount of Bona Floor Cleaner, then start mopping. It’s that simple!
String mops are difficult to manage, dirty, and cause damage
The old string-mop and bucket method is not only exhausting; it’s frankly unsanitary and bad for your floors because:
- You’re using a mop head that never gets clean, and you’re using bucket water that doesn’t stay clean. The result? Dirt and bacteria get pushed around on your floor.
- Excess water can cause wood floors to cup, and it may damage the finish. Plus, water is being wasted by the litres!
The Bona Microfiber Cleaning Pad: no rinsing, no wringing
Our spray mop includes Bona’s Microfiber Pad with Dual-Zone cleaning action to break down dirt particles and trap them away. That combined with our rinse-free, streak-free floor cleaner leaves floors sparkling clean. When you’re done, toss the cleaning pad in the washer. It can be washed and reused up to 500 times!
Bona Floor Cleaners
Bona Floor Cleaners are specially formulated from waterbased, biodegradable ingredients. Each cleaner is made for specific surfaces to help them look beautiful and last longer, quickly breaking down dirt and grime so you clean more with less effort.
Reasons you’ll love Bona Floor Cleaners
- Highly effective cleaning
- Leaves behind no residue
- Streak-free results
- Dries fast
- Waterbased solutions
Bona Microfiber Pads
Bona Microfiber Pads have patented technology built into every fibre, so no dust or dirt particles are left behind. Every mop pad is designed with a special purpose. Whether it’s a simple sweep or a more challenging pet mess, Bona has the perfect mop pad for the job.
Reasons you'll love Bona Microfiber Pads
- Dual-Zone microfibres to trap and absorb dirt for better cleaning
- PowerLoop® technology (with Bona OxyPower Microfiber Deep Clean Pad) lifts and removes heavy dirt buildup
- Safer cleaning – removes 99% of bacteria**
- Machine washable pad can be used up to 500 times

What BonaFide fans are saying
Well made
These pads fit onto the Bona floor mop with ease. It is attached/removed using a velcro strip. It is wide so covers a large area reducing cleaning time. You get one cleaning pad when you buy the whole cleaning system but I ordered a couple of spares to keep as a stand-by. Very happy!
— Kelly H., Bristol, U.K.
Unbelievable floor cleaner!
Having seen this product used in a friend's house, successfully removing the remains of a partially digested mouse vomited up by her cat, I was so impressed by the spotless appearance of her solid oak floor following treatment, that I immediately ordered some for myself, (for my teak block floor actually). My floor is now equally spotless. (fortunately, I do not have an anti-social cat to test it!)
— Rose B. Canterbury, U.K.
No more buckets of water
Exactly what I needed; hassle-free mopping. Squirt and go. No need to fill and drag buckets of water around. So convenient for my kitchen with 4 toddlers to clean up after each mealtime.
