Overview
China Railway Construction Corporation (CRRC) located in Beijing China, operates one of the largest and most technologically advanced railway equipment suppliers in the world. With billions of passenger trips each year, the demands of a highly durable floor is their top priority.
Over time, the floors in the carriages became very worn and difficult to get rid of dirt and stains. When the floor is too worn, their routine was to tear out the old floor and install a new one. After discovering the high-wearing benefits of the Bona Resilient Solution, CRRC decided to test this innovative solution in one of their train coaches. The floors were renewed bringing back their original luster while most importantly adding a layer of durability to withstand heavy foot traffic. In addition to the durability benefits, it only took CRRC 5 hours to completely renew the floors on one coach versus days to install a new floor.
After two years of real-life in-field testing, CRRC is rolling out the Bona Resilient Solution throughout its’ entire network.

The Process
The team began the cleaning process by applying Bona PowerRemove R on the floor. Bona PowerRemove R is a quick, efficient, and aggressive cleaning agent that releases the build-up of dirt and maintenance product layers. After 20 minutes while the floor was still wet, the team began to sand and deep clean the floor using the Bona Flexisand.
After the sanding, the slurry was removed from the floor and the surface was then neutralized using clean water and the Bona PowerScrubber.
When the floor had dried completely, the team began applying two coats of Bona Pure colour. Bona Creative Chips was applied on the second layer of the wet coat using a spreader as the team worked across the room. The surface was then sealed with one coat of Bona Pure finish, a hard-elastic finish that serves as a long-term surface protection for heavily trafficked floors.

Durability
Bona Pure adds an extra layer of durability to the surface and protects the floor from being damaged by cleaning solutions, foot traffic, contaminants and general wear and tear.
Minimal Downtime
The deep cleaning and entire application took only 5 hours to complete. CRRC were very happy with the end result and in particular that the whole process could be carried out in such a short time.
Sustainable
By renovating rather than replacing the flooring surface the old floor material was kept out of the landfill.
