Bona R540 – because subfloor conditions aren’t usually perfect
Specially designed to mitigate vapor transmission on absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors, including gypsum-based underlayments. The polyurethane reactive primer is compatible with the entire Bona Adhesives System.

What you should know about urethane-based adhesives
Some urethane-based adhesives, due to their inherently hazardous chemical makeup, may pose a health risk. The other issue is removing floor adhesive. Some non-silane based adhesives are nearly impossible to remove once dry, so cleanup can be quite costly.

Our silane-based adhesives: low odor, easy cleanup and application
Not all flooring adhesives are created equal. Bona Silane-Based Adhesives are free of harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) –– chemical vapors that are created when certain products go through a process called “off gassing”. Conversely, some urethane-based adhesives are difficult to work with, may contain VOCs, and may even cause etching damage to wood floors. Cleanup issues can be problematic to say the least.
