Highlights
Over halfway there!
We are over halfway to our goal of reducing fossil-based virgin plastic in packaging by 50% by the end of 2025. Our packaging in Sweden and the US consists of 50% and 30% recycled plastics respectively and in Germany we average 56%. We have more work to do, but we’re getting there!
Result 2023: -29,6%. Goal 2025: -50%
As effective, but kinder
In 2023 Bona released new product solutions containing bio-based ingredients and certified these products as USDA Certified Bio-based. These products include Bonas All-Purpose Cleaners which contain 99% bio-based content, Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner which contains 95% bio-based content and Bona Hard Surface Floor Cleaner containing 92% bio-based content.

Increasing renewable energy
More renewable energy in our facilities means less carbon footprint. In Germany, 9 percent of total energy usage now comes from our own solar power production and in Sweden we are using geothermal energy. In 2023, we lowered our climate impact from electricity at our North American headquarters by buying wind power.

Teaming up with WeForest
WeForest conserves and restores the ecological integrity of forests and landscapes and engages communities to implement lasting solutions. Specifically, Bona supports WeForest’s Brazil project along the Tietê river where it is collaborating to restore the forest on the edges of the river and its tributaries with native species.
Since partnering with WeForest Bona’s support has restored 9.74 ha (almost 10,000 square meters)
