Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), a private liberal-arts-oriented university, is known for its commitment to nurturing students’ overall development. With an emphasis on physical competence and a healthy lifestyle, the university has invested heavily in its sports facilities, aiming to provide robust programs and environments for both education and recreation. Among its award-winning campus facilities lies a multi-functional sports hall with a bamboo floating sports floor system that serves as one basketball court, one volleyball court, or four badminton courts. However, the floor’s potential was compromised, as years of use had left it with scratched paint lines and a finish that could no longer adequately protect the surface.

To restore the sports hall to its former glory and ensure it met the highest standards of durability and performance, HSUHK turned to the Bona SuperSport System. The renovation project, covering approximately 680 square meters, began with sanding the bamboo floor back to its raw wood using Bona Sanding Machines and Bona Dust Containment Systems.This helped create a clean and precise surface while reducing airborne dust during the sanding process. Next came the application of Bona SuperSport Primer to prepare the surface for the next stages of refinishing. The team then utilized Bona SuperSport Line Paint in a range of vibrant colors to carefully design and restore the court lines, tailored to accommodate basketball, volleyball, and badminton activities. Finally, two coats of Bona SuperSport HD were applied, ensuring long-lasting protection and enhanced performance under rigorous sports conditions.

The results were nothing short of outstanding. The restored floor now offers superb playing conditions and an exceptional visual appeal, reflecting the prestige of HSUHK’s facilities. Importantly, the Bona SuperSport products used in the renovation were FIBA approved and GREENGUARD certified, supporting the project’s performance requirements and adherence to international sports standards.With its fresh new surface, the floor is ready to support HSUHK’s mission of promoting physical wellness and empowering students to thrive both on and off the court.
