Collegium Park

Falköping, Sweden

Overview

Collegium Park’s premises in Falköping date back to 1895 when it opened as a hospital. Since 1990, the building has been used by commercial companies until its recent transformation into a health center for Bräcke Diakoni. Property Manager, Erik Wass at Collegium Park was tasked with ensuring that the renovation was performed in a timely manner.

Before and After

before-602x250.png

Before

High traffic over the years resulted in scuffs and damage to the linoleum and PVC floor.

after-602x250.png

After

The Bona Resilient Solution renewed the floor and gave it a new and uniform look across the entire area while adding a layer of protection.

“We are extremely pleased with the outcome! We were already aware that floor renovation is a highly cost-effective method, as it prevents having to remove the existing floor and install a new one, while also making maintenance and cleaning of the floors easier. It also allowed us to shorten the time frame by half in order to prepare the premises for our tenant, Bräcke Diakoni, and allow them to move in quickly. Knowing that we could save energy and reduce CO2 emissions as well as avoid having to dispose old flooring at a landfill further strengthened our commitment to sustainability and confirmed our decision to use the Bona Resilient Solution.”

The Challenge

The 1200 m2 of worn linoleum and PVC flooring had to be renewed in the shortest time frame possible for the new tenant to move in. The Property Manager, Erik Wass at Collegium Park, was looking for a cost-effective solution that would take sustainability into consideration, as well as creating a consistent look throughout the facility. Initially, they considered replacing the floor, but due to the high costs and associated time, they decided instead to use the Bona Resilient Solution. Finally, the environmental benefits of a 90% reduction in energy and a 90% reduction in CO2 associated with using the Bona Resilient Solution further confirmed their decision that floor renewal was their best option.

The Process

In order to achieve the best possible result, Collegium Park contracted John Jakobson from Ångtvättbilen Bohuslän for the job. As a trusted partner of Bona, they possess extensive experience with both floor maintenance and floor renewal. The application process was completed in half the time it would have taken to install a new floor. The floor renewal began with a dry sanding process to save water and minimize waste while also providing healthy working conditions for its employees. After the floor was cleaned and neutralized, Bona Pure Colour base paint in a custom stone grey shade was applied to the floor along with Bona Creative Chips in Salt & Pepper to create a multi-dimensional look.” Finally, two coats of Bona Pure, extra matt finish or Bona Pure HD in matt finish were applied to provide protection and durability to the floor. The facilities team was trained in the proper way to maintain the floor which no longer required stripping and polishing thanks to the Bona Resilient Solution. According to Erik Wass, the floors became much easier to clean once they were renovated. Ultimately, Bona’s Resilient Solution renewed the floors to their original beauty and extended their lifespan.
