Maybe you have company coming to visit, a new friend you want to impress or just have a busy weekend planned, and you need to get the house cleaned fast. The bottom line: your time is limited, but the cleaning still needs to get done.
Enter speed cleaning! With the help of your friends at Bona, and a few handy tools, you can have your house looking spiffy in no time. We’ve put together a list of what you’ll need to get going along with a fabulous guide to get you through your quick cleaning process.
Items you’ll need
- A solid playlist to rev up your energy. We like this one.
- Smartphone or other device for playing music, headphones/earbuds (optional)
- Garbage bags

Your speed cleaning guide
- Turn on the tunes. Music is an excellent motivator that both inspires and helps you set your pace. If you don’t have a playlist ready, then just choose one of your favorite musicians or bands from a music app that you enjoy. (TIME: 1 minute or less)
- Clear away anything that can be tossed from tables or counters, and put away anything that is sitting out but has a designated place, then spray and wipe down counters or tables with a surface cleaner. (TIME: 5 minutes or less)
- Pick up dirty clothes lying around and put in your hamper. Any items that can be thrown away, toss into your trash bag. (TIME: 1-2 minutes)
- Stack any papers that need to be saved. File them if possible and keep them out of sight to avoid clutter. (TIME: 2-3 minutes)
- Take out the trash. Make sure to take a quick peek in the fridge to rid of anything expired or leftovers passed their prime. (TIME: 2 minutes or less)
- Vacuum or dust mop with a microfiber dusting pad, then spray-mop if you have wood or hard-surface floors. We recommend an all-in-one tool that allows you to spray and mop in one easy motion. (TIME: 5-10 minutes depending on room size)
Bonus tips
Wear a cleaning apron to store cleaning cloths or rags and other lightweight tools in the pockets. Also helpful for any miscellaneous items you may find as you’re cleaning, such as loose change or jewelry.
