    Information

    Waterborne primer for untreated wood floors producing a medium light wood colouration.

    Bona Classic UX is characterised by simplicity in application and use, being quick to dry and easy to abrade with conventional abrasives. A strong foundation for any Bona topcoat. EC 1PLUS classified for very low indoor air emissions. Can be used in combination with underfloor heating.

    TDS Tech Cleaning

  • Instructions

    Follow these recommendations to achieve the best application results for Bona Classic UX.

    TDS Application Notes

    1. Shake the container well before use and insert the supplied filter. 2. Apply Bona Classic UX evenly using a Bona Roller or a Swivel Head Applicator at approx. 8-10 m²/L and avoiding accumulations of product. 3. Allow to dry, approx. 1-2 hours. 4. When dry, Bona Classic UX may be abraded to reduce grain raise using the Bona Scrad system or a sanding screen (use the finest grit which will achieve the desired result, 120-150grit). Alternatively, apply one coat of lacquer before abrading to reduce grain raise. A lacquer coat may be applied with no abrasion required providing this is done within 24 hours after the application of Bona Classic UX 5. Remove dust and complete the treatment with the topcoat of choice.

    TDS Preparation

    Ensure the floor is acclimatised to its end-use environment. The surface must be sanded back to bare wood, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. Sanding with a 120 grit abrasive using a Bona Quattro Disc, or similar equipment is recommended for the final sanding of the wood. Allow the product to reach room temperature. Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C and 30-60% relative humidity. High temperatures and low humidity shorten, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. Minimum temperature for use is 13°C. Observe: Tropical wood species such as Teak, Ipe, Smoked Oak, Wenge and similar species as well as some softwoods, contain natural ingredients – tannins, oils, resins and minerals, which can lead to significant lengthening of the drying time, wetting issues or colour changes. It is recommended that the timber species is identified, and a trial application carried out before coating if required.

    Typical treatment schedule: 1× Bona Classic UX + 2× Bona Lacquer Bona Classic UX is compatible with all products in the Bona Topcoat range. Note: • It is not recommended to apply more than two full coats of primer and/or lacquer per day due to risk of excessive wood swelling. • Bona Classic UX must only be used directly onto raw wood. It must not be used in conjunction with stains or oils, or to overcoat other finishes
