    TDS Preparation

Ensure the floor is acclimatised to its end-use environment. The surface must be sanded back to bare wood, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. Sanding with a 120 grit abrasive using a Bona Quattro Disc, or similar equipment is recommended for the final sanding of the wood. Allow the product to reach room temperature. Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C and 30-60% relative humidity. High temperatures and low humidity shorten, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. In dry and/or warm conditions max. 4% Bona Extender may be added to prolong the open time and reduce the risk of overlapping and discolouration. Minimum temperature for use is 13°C. Observe: Tropical wood species such as Teak, Ipe, Wenge and similar species as well as some softwoods, contain natural ingredients – tannins, oils, resins and minerals, which can lead to significant lengthening of the drying time, wetting issues or colour changes. The same applies to heat- or chemically treated wood. It is strongly recommended that the timber species is identified, and a trial application carried out to assess the colour and general appearance of the system.

    TDS Treatment Schedule

Typical treatment schedule: 1× Bona Classic 1× Bona Lacquer Light sanding 150 grit 1× Bona Lacquer Note: • Bona Classic has high elasticity it is preferable to apply one layer of topcoat lacquer before cutting back grain raise. Lacquer should be applied within a maximum of 24 hours. • It is not recommended to apply more than two full coats of primer and/or lacquer per day due to risk of excessive wood swelling. Ensure good ventilation during drying. Poor drying conditions may reduce product performance and adhesion. • Bona Classic must only be used directly onto raw wood. It must not be used in conjunction with stains or oils, or to overcoat other finishes.
