    Pre-treatment to Bona Craft Oil, offering dark and smoky wood colour effects.

    Bona Rich Tone is an easy-to-use pre-treatment for oak floors. It creates a rich, dark brown colouration, evocative of smoked oak. It can be combined with up to 5% of Bona Mix Colour to change or further intensify the tone. Seal the surface with Bona Craft Oil and/or Bona Hard Wax Oil, depending on the desired colour effect, and the level of protection needed.

  • Instructions

    Follow these recommendations to achieve the best application results for Bona Rich Tone.

    TDS Application Notes

    1. Using an application sleeve or a fine, wide floor brush, apply one even layer of Bona Rich Tone in the direction of the wood at 8-10 m²/litre (100-120 g/m²). Overlap wet-on-wet. 2. If more intensity is desired or if the first application is uneven, then it is possible to apply a second layer after 1-2 hours. 3. Allow the final application to dry for 5-10 hours. 4. Gently sand the surface with a Bona Scrad Pad attached under a buffing machine (low rpm). Move the machine quickly and systematically. 5. Vacuum to remove dust. 6. Protect the surface by applying either Bona Craft Oil, Bona Craft Oil 2K and/or Bona Hard Wax Oil as per the treatment schedule. Allow drying overnight between each application. Note: Bona Hard wax oil must always be used for the final coat.

    Bona Rich Tone should never be used as the final treatment. Observe that the product cannot prevent the wood changing colour due to tannin bleed, the movement of natural oils or the effects of UV light in the short or long term.

    CRAFT OIL PRE-TREATMENT

    TDS Preparation

    Surface must be well sanded, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. Allow product to reach room temperature and shake the container vigorously before use. Optimal application conditions are between 20-25°C and 30-60% relative humidity. Minimum temperature for use is 16°C. Important! The smoked oak effect is achieved by a chemical reaction to oak wood. Results will vary depending on wood species. Test to ensure desired results before use.
