Frequently Asked Questions

Can the new version in the squeezy bottle be applied on top of the original version in the spray bottle?

The new version adheres well to the older version in the spray bottle. However, note that the new version is formulated to have a low gloss, matt sheen to replicate the appearance of a freshly oiled wood floor, whilst the older spray bottle version has a high gloss finish. When applying over the older product, to avoid a patchy or streaky appearance it is important to apply an even layer of the new product to the entire floor surface. Depending on local conditions, two or three applications may be necessary.

What should I use to clean my floor after treating it with Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher?

Both the Bona Oiled Wood Floor Cleaner and the standard Bona Wood Floor Cleaner are suitable for cleaning the floor has been treated with the Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher.

Can I use a conventional maintenance oil after using Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher?

To avoid any compatibility issues, it is best to continue using Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher, however if you do wish to use a conventional maintenance oil then it is best to first use Bona polish remover or lightly sand the entire surface to open the pores of the wood so that it fully absorbs the oil.

How often will I have to apply the refresher?

This depends largely on the level of foot traffic your floor is subject to. If the surface starts to appear dull or worn, we suggest reapplying the refresher. This could be as little as once a year or as often as once a month. Use periodically and as needed.

My oiled wood floors are very worn and dull. Is this the right product for me?

To bring back to life, a very worn and dull oiled floor, it would be preferrable to use a maintenance oil with a high oil content such as Bona Home Wood Floor Maintenance Oil to really saturate the pores, afterwards you can continue to maintain your floor with Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher.

Can I use this product on wood floors treated with hard wax oil?

No, hard-wax-oiled surfaces are best maintained by applying either a fresh layer of hard wax oil or a maintenance product designed especially for hard-waxed wood floors, e.g. Bona Hard Wax Oil Refresher.

What kind of pad should I use to apply the Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refrehser?

For best results use the Bona Microfiber Applicator Pad. When done, hand wash the pad with detergent and warm water immediately. Dispose of rinse water at an approved waste disposal facility - do not pour down drains or sewers.
