How to fasten a wood floor

Follow the steps below

.

Preparation

The substrate must be even, dry, free of grease, clean, free of cracks, and have adequate compressive and tensile strength. The surface should be absorbent. Where applicable, it is necessary to meet the requirements of local standards or codes of practice. In Germany: DIN 18356; Austria: ÖN B2218.

The minimum air temperature should be 18°C, and the minimum floor temperature should be 15°C (with underfloor heating, a maximum of 20°C)

Suitable sub-floors:

  • Cementitious screed (CT)
    • Standard: EN 13813
    • Maximum moisture content without underfloor heating: 2.0 CM%
    • Maximum moisture content with underfloor heating: 1.8 CM%

  • Calcium sulphate screed (CA)
    • Standard: EN 13813
    • Maximum moisture content without underfloor heating: 0.5 CM%
    • Maximum moisture content with underfloor heating: 0.3 CM%
  • Levelling compound, a minimum of 2 mm thick. Plasticiser-resistant. Chipboard, OSB board. Other dry and sound sub-floors

2.a How to use Bona Home Wood Floor Adhesive - application

Recommended application:

  • Two-layer prefabricated parquet: 1000 g/m2 TKB B10
  • Three-layer prefabricated parquet: 1250 g/m2 TKB B13
  • Solid boards (maximum width 180 mm): 1500 g/m2 TKB B16

Typical recommendations for wood moisture for central Europe:

  • Prefabricated parquet: 8% (+/- 2%)
  • Solid parquet: 9% (+/- 2%)

For our example, we're using parquet flooring.

2.b How to use Bona Home Wood Floor Adhesive – application

Apply adhesive using a toothed spatula (see recommended application). Place the parquet in the adhesive bed within the open time of 40 minutes, and tap it down thoroughly (ideally, place weights on the parquet for a few hours). In some cases, excess adhesive is forced up into the joints. Remove this carefully, using Bona Cleaning Wipes. You can then also use the Bona Cleaning Wipes to clean your hands and tools. Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically. The temperature must not fall below +5°C or go above +25 °C during storage and transport. Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Waste and empty containers should be disposed of according to your local regulations.

Allow 2 to 4 days for further treatment of the parquet surface, depending on the moisture content of the materials. Follow the processing instructions provided by the parquet manufacturer.

3. How to use Bona Home Construction Adhesive

Preparation
The surfaces to be bonded must be clean, free of grease, dry and firm. If unsure, be sure to test adhesion before use. Ensure that the adhesive, and all materials to be bonded, are at a temperature of at least 5°C.

Application
Open the cartridge and attach the nozzle. Cut the nozzle to the preferred size. Apply the adhesive to one of the materials to be bonded, then join the components together within 10 minutes. Strong adhesion is usually achieved after 1 hour. Full adhesion is achieved after 4-8 hours, depending on the temperature and the moisture content of the materials.
