Historic floors refreshed with minimal downtime
Eastington Park is a Georgian manor and busy wedding venue set within the Gloucestershire countryside. Years of weddings, functions and heavy foot traffic had left the existing lacquered wood floors looking tired, particularly around the venue’s busy bar area. Although the floors remained structurally sound, the venue needed a cost-effective way to refresh their appearance and performance without the disruption of a full sand and refinish.
Bona Certified Contractor ATC Floors & Doors recommended Bona Silver Recoating. Over two days, the team renovated approximately 350 m² of flooring, beginning with a thorough deep clean using the Bona PowerScrubber. The existing lacquer was then mechanically abraded using the Bona FlexiSand 1.9 with Bona Scrad Pads and 150-grit Bona Diamond Wings. After vacuuming and mopping the floor with the Bona Spray Mop, the team applied a fresh coat of Bona Traffic HD with Bona Anti Slip Additive to provide additional slip resistance in the high-traffic bar area.
The renovation restored the floor’s appearance while helping extend its service life by preserving the existing wood rather than sanding back to bare wood. Most importantly, Eastington Park avoided a lengthy closure and was able to return the floor to full use the following day. The result complements the character of the historic venue while providing the durability needed for its busy wedding and events schedule.
