Overview
Phorms is a leading bilingual school community with campuses all over Germany. Since its installation 13 years ago, the red linoleum floor in Red Hall has been subjected to high traffic and levels of dirt. Red Hall is a multifunctional space at the Berlin South Campus used by students, teachers, and parents multiple times a day for sports, activities, and assemblies.

The Challenge
To maintain the linoleum floor, the Phorms facility staff regularly stripped and polished the floors during school breaks in an effort to bring back its original luster. Despite these routines, the repeated stripping and polishing resulted in a dull appearance that began to show its age and became less durable and potentially unsafe for the school occupants.
As the name suggests, Red Hall is visually striking, and the red linoleum floor has become synonymous with the space. To tackle the challenges, the school initially considered replacing the floor. However, after receiving bids on the cost and time associated with a replacement, they continued to search for an alternative.
The Process
Thanks to a trusted relationship with the contractor, Cujic Gebäudereinigung GmbH, Phorms was introduced to the Bona Resilient Solution, which would renew the beauty of the original floor, add a layer of durability, plus save considerable time and money. Cujic assured Phorms that the work would be initiated on Friday afternoon and completed by Saturday evening so that the furniture could be put back on Sunday to avoid interruption of operations in any way. It was essential for Phorms that the coating was fully cured before recommissioning the space and of course for the red linoleum floor to ”shine to its former glory.

The Results
Phorms Campus Berlin Süd achieved the following benefits by using the Bona Resilient Flooring Solution to renew their resilient floor.
Durability
Bona Pure HD adds an extra layer of durability to the surface and protects the floor from being damaged by cleaning solutions, foot traffic, contaminants and general wear and tear.
Design
With the Bona Resilient Solution Phorms was able to keep the characteristic of the red marbling in the design and restore the floor to its beautiful original appearance.
Ease of Maintenance
Phorms will now have an improved and easier maintenance schedule to care for their floors. They will never again have to burnish, strip, and polish the floor.
Time Savings
In less than three days the floor was quickly renewed without interruption of operations in any way.
