Overview

Forbo Flooring Systems is a leading global player in the resilient flooring market and offers floor coverings of primarily linoleum, vinyl and textiles. At Forbo’s head office, they were in the process of converting a storage room with worn and dull floors with many scratches into a training center.

As part of the collaboration between Forbo and Bona, the floors were renewed thus extending their life via the many possibilities of the Bona Resilient Solution. The floors were made of PVC and had a total area of 170 m². The area was divided into two different sections where 50 m² got a completely new design by using Bona Pure Color and Bona R Creative Chips. The other section of floor, which was 120 m², was fully resurfaced with Bona Pure.

The Process

The team began the cleaning process by applying Bona PowerRemove R on the floor using the Bona PowerScrubber. Bona PowerRemove R is a quick, efficient, and aggressive cleaning agent that releases the build-up of dirt and maintenance product layers. After 20 minutes while the floor was still wet, the team began to sand and deep clean the floor using the Bona Flexisand.

After sanding each section, Bona Power Scrubber was used to remove the slurry from the floor. The surface was then neutralized using clean water and Bona PowerScrubber.

When the floor had dried completely, the team began applying the first coat of Bona Pure on the section of the floor that was only getting resurfaced. Bona Creative Chips was applied to the wet coat using a spreader as the team worked across the room. After the first coat was dry, a second coat was applied.

For the other section of the floor that was getting a completely new design, two coats of Bona Pure colour were first applied. When the color coat had dried, the floor received the same treatment as the first section with two coats of Bona Pure and Bona Creative Chips.

The Results

Forbo achieved the following benefits by using the Bona Resilient Flooring Solution to renew the PVC floor.

Durability

Bona Pure adds an extra layer of durability to the surface and protects the floor from being damaged by cleaning solutions, foot traffic, contaminants and general wear and tear.

Sustainable
