All Set in a Stroke

Bona Silane Adhesives. Bonding & Moisture Barrier in One. Powered by Bona Titanium Technology. Eliminate the separate moisture barrier step, save time and cost on every wood flooring project.

Everything you need in one application

Bona Silane Adhesives are engineered to deliver secure, long-lasting bonding for professional wood flooring installations. Powered by advanced Titanium Technology, they simplify installation with reliable moisture control and uncompromising bond strength, all delivered in one application.

Faster installation

With the moisture barrier built into the adhesive, there’s no need for a separate moisture barrier or extra curing time. This streamlines the installation process, making it faster and more predictable, especially on tight schedules.

Save time and cost

No separate moisture barrier means less labour, lower costs, and fewer materials. Optimised consumption at 1500 g/m² delivers a competitive total system cost. Ideal for engineered flooring and solid planks where efficiency and reliability matter.

Simplified workflow

Installation becomes simpler and more efficient. Once the substrate is properly cured and visibly dry, there’s no need for extensive moisture testing*, eliminating a time-consuming and often uncertain step. With only one product to manage, on-site logistics are streamlined, reducing deliveries, storage, and coordination.

One step less. Same reliable result.

By integrating moisture barrier functionality into the adhesive itself, an entire application step is removed from your workflow.

  1. Prepare the substrate: Ensure the subfloor is properly cured, structurally sound and visibly dry.
  2. Apply Bona Silane Adhesive: Using the Bona Trowel at the specified consumption rate. The moisture barrier functionality activates during crosslinking.
  3. Install & finish: Lay flooring directly. Walk-on ready from 4 hours, sandable from 12 hours.

Built-in moisture barrier across the range

Bona Trowel Plus

Together with the Bona Quantum adhesive, the Bona Trowel Plus enables you to lay both perfect ribs and a moisture barrier in one stroke, saving hours of work. Protects from slab moisture up to 95% rH or 85% on a heated floor.

Titanium technology

Titanium-technology-crop.jpg

At the core of Bona Silane Adhesives lies the innovative Quadruple Titanium Crosslinking Technology. Four simultaneous curing processes work together to create an exceptionally strong and uniform adhesive structure, even under demanding jobsite conditions.

By delivering consistent bonding across the entire surface, the technology helps minimise weak spots and increases resistance to environmental stress such as temperature shifts and humidity fluctuations. This reduces the risk of wood gapping or deformation over time and ensures a stable, long-lasting floor installation.

This advanced crosslinking forms a dense adhesive that significantly reduces and slows down water vapor transmission from the substrate into the wood flooring. Instead of relying on a separate moisture barrier, the adhesive layer itself acts as the moisture barrier layer.

FAQ
Does the built-in moisture barrier replace a separate membrane?

When applied at the recommended consumption rate with the correct Bona Trowel, Bona Silane Adhesives provide built-in moisture barrier functionality eliminating the need for a separate barrier layer.

However, in certain cases a separate moisture barrier may still be required, for example, when installing smaller elements, when the substrate needs to be strengthened, or when a levelling compound is necessary.

Always follow local regulations and the subfloor requirements outlined in the Technical Data Sheet.

Is subfloor moisture testing still required?

With built-in moisture barrier performance, once the substrate is properly cured, structurally sound and visibly dry, installation can proceed without extensive moisture testing. Always follow local regulations and subfloor requirements defined in the TDS.

Which adhesive is right for my project?

Bona offers a full range of silane adhesives to suit different project requirements. Bona Titan is built for the most demanding installations, Bona Quantum and Bona Quantum T offer outstanding all-round performance, and Bona R848/R848T and Bona R820 deliver reliable results for engineered flooring and mosaic projects. Visit the individual product pages for full specifications.

How quickly can the floor be walked on after installation?

Floors are walk-on ready from 4 hours. Sanding is possible from 12 hours post-installation, depending on the adhesive used. Please refer to the relevant Technical Data Sheet for specific curing times.

Which trowel is required to achieve the built-in moisture barrier functionality?

Bona Titan, Bona Quantum, and Bona Quantum T use the Bona Trowel 1500G at a consumption rate of 1500 g/m². Bona R848, Bona R848T, and Bona R820 must be applied with the Bona Trowel Plus at 2200 g/m². Always refer to the product TDS for full application guidance.
