With Bona solutions there is a great variety of options when designing a beautiful and durable floor surface. Sealers are used for ease of application and for adhesion. The sealer will also decide the wood colouration which can be varied from Scandinavian white to rich amber. Together with our finishes you can get all the performance characteristics and sheen levels you could possibly need for any residential or commercial environment.
Sealers making a difference
Maybe the easiest way to visually alter a customer’s wood floor is to begin with a sealer. Apart from that it’s more cost efficient than just adding another layer of topcoat, it also gives a coloration option from white to deep, depending on the desire of the floor owner.
Sealers have a known effect on wood coloration. You can design the floor impression by using a sealer that provides a certain tone to the floor. It’s a well-known fact that the majority of floor owners prefer a floor which is either neutral or just slightly colored. For example, Bona Traffic HD Raw together with Bona White for a light, Nordic look.
Sheen options contributing to the design
Reaching this far, it’s time to look at the sheen levels delivered by the choice of topcoats. A higher sheen level deepens the colouration, while a lower sheen level makes the floor more neutral. It all comes down to your customer’s demands. Some of the topcoats have a wider range of sheens, check the preferred topcoat for possibilities.

As with coloring with sealers, choosing different sheen levels of the topcoat can enhance the impression of the colored oil even further. Again, there are possibilities to go from Commercial Extra Matte to Commercial Satin surfaces, depending on the demand of the floor owner. If going for Bona Traffic HD Raw on top, the floor will have a unique ultra matt colored oiled look, yet with the protection of a finished floor.
