Award Validates Bona’s Commitment to Environmentally Conscious Products and Processes

Today, Bona US, the world leader in hardwood floor care and maintenance since 1919, announced that it has achieved ISO 14001 Certification by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) since 1829. The certification relates specifically to Bona US production facilities in Pueblo, Colorado and Monroe, North Carolina. In Union County, North Carolina, Bona is only the second company to receive ISO 14001 certification.

ISO 14001 is an environmental management system that gives company management, employees and external stakeholders an effective framework to follow and assure environmental impact is being measured and improved while also taking into account legislative requirements. This can include the process for how a product is created, inspections, preventative maintenance, supplies, transportation, recycling and energy efficiency.

“For almost 100 years Bona has kept environmental concerns as a core value to everything we do. This certification is one way of demonstrating our continued commitment to premium products that are also environmentally safe,” said Richard Goering, Vice President of Sales and Operations, BonaUS. “Not only do we take into account the composition of our products and the affect they may have on our environment and our customers, but we continually evaluate and innovate the development and process of how we make each product.”

Certification is acquired and maintained through an interview audit process each year to prove continuous improvement to relevant processes. Bona will continue to work with the International Organization for Standardization to ensure its products meet the highest level of quality and reliability. The Bona manufacturing facilities in Malmo, Sweden and Limburg, Germany earned the certification in 2001.
