How to use Bona Home Wood Floor Adhesive – Application

Recommended application:

  • 2-layer prefabricated parquet: 1000 g/m2 TKB B10
  • 3-layer prefabricated parquet: 1250 g/m2 TKB B13
  • Solid boards (max. width 180 mm): 1500 g/m2 TKB B16

Typical recommendations for wood moisture for central Europe:

  • Prefabricated parquet: 8% (+/- 2%)
  • Solid parquet: 9% (+/- 2%)

Apply adhesive using a toothed spatula (see recommended application). Place the parquet in the adhesive bed within the open time of 40 min. and tap it down thoroughly (ideally, place weight on the parquet for a few hours). In some cases, excess adhesive is forced up into the joints. Remove this carefully using Bona Cleaning Wipes. Clean your hands and tools using Bona Cleaning Wipes. Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically. The temperature must not fall below +5 °C or exceed +25 °C during storage and transport. Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. Waste and empty containers should be disposed of as specified in local regulations.

Further treatment of the parquet surface after 2 to 4 days depending on the moisture content of the materials. Follow the processing instructions provided by the parquet manufacturer.

Preparation
The surfaces to be bonded must be clean, free of grease, dry and firm. If unsure, please test adhesion prior to use. Ensure that the adhesive and all materials to be bonded are at a temperature of at least 5 °C.

Application
Open the cartridge and attach the nozzle. Cut the nozzle to the preferred size. Apply the adhesive to one of the materials to be bonded, then join the components together within 10 minutes. Strong adhesion is usually achieved after 1 hour. Full adhesion is achieved after 4-8 hours depending on the temperature and the moisture content of the materials.
