Take care of the great indoors

Did you know that indoor air can be more polluted than outdoor air? And that you spend more time indoors than outdoors. GREENGUARD Certifications serve to reduce your exposure to chemicals and to improve your indoor quality. That’s why Bona´s products are GREENGUARD certified.

GREENGUARD certified products

UL Environment’s GREENGUARD Certification strives to help reduce chemical exposure by connecting people to healthier products they can trust. The GREENGUARD standards are among the most rigorous product emissions standards in the world, and they are based on available standards and guidelines from national and international public health agencies. You can read more about Greenguard here.

Take care of your indoor air - here are a few tips:

Keep your home ventilated. The more clean outdoor air you let in, the more pollutants it filters out.

Keep your home dry. Control relative humidity levels to less than 60 percent, using dehumidifiers if necessary. Clean humidifiers frequently.

Don’t smoke indoors. Obvious, but tobacco smoke contains high concentrations of thousands of pollutants.

Cut down on using harsh cleaners, solvent-based cleaners or cleaners with strong fragrances.

Activities like paint stripping, soldering or gluing, painting, sanding and rock polishing may create high levels of pollution. Why not do them outside?

Leaving cars, lawnmowers or other engines running in your garage or close to your home also emits chemicals. Switch them off when you aren’t using them.

Wash your bed linen every week to reduce allergens such as dust mites.

Leave your shoes by the door so you don’t drag in outdoor dust and dirt. Have a mat by the front door.

Use high efficiency vacuum cleaners and microfiber cloths to remove dust.

House plants filter carbon dioxide, but don’t over water them, otherwise they may develop mould.

Our concern for the environment

Bona have great concern for the ones working with our solutions, living and enjoying them, and the environment affected by our actions and products, today and tomorrow.

We strive to continuously launch better products with less environmental impact. This has led to breakthrough innovations from waterborne finishes in the 1970s to dust-free sanding in the 2000s. Today, we are proud to be able to offer a full range of environmentally sound products for sanding, finishing, fastening, maintaining and cleaning a wooden floor – throughout its lifetime.

Bona water-based finishes are very low on VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). Levels of volatile organic compounds in the air have health and environmental effects. That means that Bona´s products are better for your family, your pets, and your indoor environment. Our Swedish water-based technologies are the key to bringing back the beauty and elegance of your wood floors, while making them truly strong and durable.

Dust from sanding machines gets everywhere. In your clothes, your kitchen cabinets, your children’s hair! Bona’s Dust Containment System gets rid of almost all dust. Actually it removes up to 99.8% of the dust in the air compared to traditional sanding processes. Our Bona Contractors offer dust-free floor sanding, and you won’t have to cover anything up. Or take anything down. Or clean everything from top to bottom after they’ve done their job. And the air coming out of the sanding machine is cleaner than when it went in, thanks to our HEPA air filters.
