Fibre ripping

Using the Bona 8300 (grit 36) and Bona 8700 (grit 50) for coarse sanding resulted in less scratches and fibre ripping on the floor surface.

Comparison of fibre ripping

The residue from using Bona Abrasives is fine and powdery compared to fibres of competitor abrasives. The test shows that coarse & medium sanding with Bona Abrasives grinds the surface evenly and gently without damaging the wood, despite the speed and effectiveness in finish removal.

Grit structure

The more even a grit surface is on the abrasive, the easier it is to achieve a smoother surface. Bona Abrasive 8300 displays a significantly more even grit structure.

Fibre removal

The fineness of the sanding dust is evidence to whether the abrasive grinds the floor evenly, or removes fibres from the wood and damages it. The sanding dust from using Bona Abrasives 8300 and 8700 clearly shows no evidence of fibre ripping.
