A valuable collection in church – dust collection
In spring 2007, when it was time to renovate the 300-year-old church in Ekshärad in central Sweden, Jonas Eriksson of Ekshärads Golv AB was given the assignment. He was the only flooring contractor in the county of Värmland to own a Dust Care System from Bona and this allowed him to restore the wooden floor of 600 sq.m without spreading a coating of dust around the church. Ekshärad Church receives 20,000 visitors a year. Many come to see the wrought iron crosses in the churchyard that are unique for this area.
“Thanks to the fact that I could connect the sanding machine to the highly effective vacuum cleaner, I could save the church the expensive job of cleaning out the organ pipes afterwards,” says Jonas Eriksson. He was one of the first in Sweden to use the new system for dust-free sanding.
“I made this investment primarily for my own sake,” says Jonas. “Thanks to the effective vacuum cleaner that is connected to the sanding machine, I am able to improve my working environment considerably. Now I am not forced to breathe in all the dust that normally flies around in the air and which previously gave me problems with asthma among other symptoms. I have always used Bona’s products, so when the company introduced me to the Dust Care System, I had no hesitation in buying it. The fact that dust-free sanding creates added value for my customers is an extra bonus both for them and for me.”
His father started the family business and used Bona’s finishes to renovate Ekshärad Church back in the 1960s. “When the church was reopened on 6 May, the priest devoted a large part of his speech to telling about how beautiful the floors had become now that they were lighter in shade. He thanked all the craftsmen, especially me,” Jonas comments.
He used Bona Prime Intense as the primer and Bona Traffic as the top coat.
“I wonder if we could have done such a good job if we hadn’t used Bona’s high quality sanding machines and abrasives,” Jonas adds. “We also received invaluable advice from Bona’s local representative. No dust was left in the church thanks to the effective dust collection of the Dust Care Single.”
